GROTESQUE BEAUTY
'Don't Look' Publication
Media has changed the way we consume our food, focusing on the visual presentation of it even more. These creations that we drool over could be deemed as pretty exhibitions of dead animals and plants; to put it sadistically, is it not? Which is why my project is named Grotesque Beauty, a series of work displaying my intentions to make people aware of our twisted actions that questions our ethics on consumerism. During this project, I have noticed that when a subject has been misappropriated in an unfamiliar location, it will come off as off-putting that makes the viewer feel uneasy. The piece is a series of photographic outcomes of humans being wrapped up in huge paper prints of “food” that are supposed to represent especially fast food packaging. The consumer isww my subject as well as my audience, where the piece is one in the middle- a mirror reflection of the food they consume. All images and content done by me. |
